How It Began
Founded in 2010, Bray Adventures was created from a passion for the outdoors, the sea, and sharing unforgettable experiences with others. Based on Bray Seafront in County Wicklow, we are perfectly placed between the mountains and the ocean, offering some of Ireland’s best coastal adventure activities.
What began as one man’s love for surfing and adventure has grown into one of the East Coast’s leading outdoor activity providers. Over the years, Bray Adventures has welcomed thousands of individuals, families, schools, corporate groups, and tourists looking to experience the thrill of the outdoors in a safe, fun, and professional environment.
Today, we specialise in surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, coasteering, snorkelling, hillwalking, rock climbing, team-building events, and summer camps, all led by experienced and fully qualified instructors. Our goal has always remained the same: to help people connect with nature, challenge themselves, and create lasting memories.
Meet John
John, founder of Bray Adventures, has been surfing for over 25 years and has dedicated his life to outdoor adventure, coaching, and water sports.
His surfing journey has taken him around the world, including France, Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, the USA, the Canary Islands, and Ireland’s wild Atlantic coast. He also spent seven years living and surfing in County Mayo, where he deepened his connection with Ireland’s surf culture.

John was a founding member of the East Coast Surf Club and established Bray Adventures in 2010 with a vision to bring high-quality adventure experiences to Bray and the wider Wicklow region.
With decades of hands-on experience and an extensive list of qualifications, John is passionate about helping people of all ages build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy the outdoors safely.

25 members of Mercury Explorer Unit enjoyed a wonderful day with John and Bray Adventures. John was a fantastic instructor – hugely knowledgable, enthusiastic and fantastic with young people. The coasteering was awesome with some big jumps and challenges for all involved. Thank you Bray Adventures!

Excellent location
John and his team are extremely knowledgeable and patient. I was a very nervous kayaker but John quickly put me at ease and helped me enjoy my time on the water. Really looking forward to coasteering in warmer weather!!

Local Guide Level 3
My 12 year old son loved this camp, would have gone the next week too if he could have. He did a big range of activities, spent lots of time on the sea and enjoyed the company of the other kids. He wants to go again next summer and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
